What is 2nd marine aircraft wing?

The 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing (2nd MAW) is a unit of the United States Marine Corps (USMC) responsible for providing aviation support to the II Marine Expeditionary Force. It is based at Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point in North Carolina and was activated on July 1, 1940.

The 2nd MAW is composed of over 10,000 active-duty Marines and sailors, and is equipped with a variety of fixed-wing and rotary aircraft, including F/A-18 Hornet and AV-8B Harrier attack aircraft, MV-22 Osprey tiltrotor aircraft, and KC-130 Hercules aerial refueling aircraft.
